Frank Wess

Born in Kansas City (1922), one of the earliest flute jazz giants, already played with Billy Eckstine in the forties and Count Basie in the fifties. He also did an amazing amount of session work and released two fine funky albums on the Stax subsidary Enterprise in the first half of the seventies. Check the soundsamples Cubano Chant and Under Hog, both from Wess To Memphis.
